Conditions for participating in the HUMS2027 Data Challenge

Please read this in full before registering. Accepting these terms is a condition of receiving dataset access.

  1. We acknowledge that the dataset is restricted and has not been publicly released. We agree not to share the dataset, any dataset file or the personalised download link with third parties.
  2. We agree that publications relying on the dataset will acknowledge Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), Melbourne, Australia, as the source.
  3. We agree that at least one team member will register for and attend HUMS2027 to present the team’s methods and results.
  4. We agree to accept the decisions of the judging panel and all challenge rules communicated by the HUMS2027 Committee.
  5. One team may submit one entry. Teams may include members from one or multiple institutions.
  6. HUMS2027 Committee members, members of the judging panel and DSTG personnel directly involved in generating or curating the dataset are ineligible to compete.
  7. We agree to submit the completed results template by 11:59 pm AEDT on 15 January 2027. Late submissions may be ineligible for prizes or awards unless an extension has been explicitly approved.
  8. We agree to use the open question-and-answer process. Questions should be sent to DSTG.HUMSConference@defence.gov.au. Anonymised questions and responses may be published on the Q&A page for fairness.
  9. We understand that any methodology may be used, but submissions must explain the method, present supporting evidence and identify the claimed earliest convincing detection and progression trend.
  10. We understand that the winner and runner-up are selected on the basis of earliest convincing detection and accurate trending of fault progression, as assessed by the judging panel.

By registering for the challenge and downloading the dataset, each participant accepts these terms and conditions.
